Tell The Story:
Scouts are making a difference!
We want to hear your untold stories about Scouts that inspire hope and goodwill wherever they live! Enter the Asia-Pacific Region (APR) Storytelling Contest based on the theme “Scouts are making a difference!” and you could win cash prizes for you and your Group!
Tell The Story is open to all registered Members (youth and adults) of Scouts Australia, as well as members of other registered National Scout Organisations in the Asia-Pacific Region.
What stories should I tell?
The purpose of this contest is to encourage Members from around the Asia-Pacific Region to tell their stories about what Scouts do and raise awareness of Scouting activities in the wider community. These stories should inspire, create impact, and reflect the ideals of Scouting.
How and why Scouts are making a difference: Stories about events or practices that portray aspects of the unique Scout culture, such as Be Prepared, Doing a Good Turn, team spirit, good citizenship, community service, learning by doing, and so on.
Innovative educational programs: Stories about activities that enhance the life of communities through positive contributions, community involvement and partnerships (and how Scouts grow and develop their potential by taking part in these programs).
How to enter
All stories submitted to this competition must:
- Be original (NOT published before);
- Be approximately 500 words;
- Be accompanied by at least three high resolution photos (300dpi) directly related to the story;
- Demonstrate the Tell The Story theme of 'Scouts making a difference'.
All Australian entrants must submit their stories to Natasha Omar, National Manager, Marketing Communications. Email your entry to tellthestory@scouts.com.au, or post to:
Scouts Australia National Office

Level 1, 8 Help St
Chatswood NSW 2077
Please be sure to include your name, contact details and your position in Scouting.
Judging & Prizes
Stories that meet the criteria will be published as the 'story of the week/month' (depending on the volume of entries) at www.scout.org/asia-pacific.
Selected stories will be published in the APR bi-monthly newsletter.
Australian stories published on the APR website will also be published on the Scouts Australia National/International website.
Every six months, a panel of judges will choose ONE BEST STORY from amongst the published stories. The panelists are members of the APR Scouting Profile Sub-Committee. For judging, 75% will come from the panel and 25% from popular vote (feedback through the APR website).
The AUTHOR of the winning BEST STORY will receive a cash prize of USD300 and the SCOUT GROUP (subject of the story) will also receive USD200. Both the winning author and Group will receive certificates of appreciation.
Second and third prize winners will receive special tokens.
All published stories will be recognised with a certificate.
Winners are announced at each Summit and Regional Conference. Australian winners will be notified by phone or email, and prizes distributed by post.
